know how
For over 30 years I have had a passion for Native American culture, and this quite naturally led me to want to create objects of my own.
Experience of life in camps brought me a greater appreciation of Indian art: it is by using everyday objects that we can gain a better understanding of how and why they are made as they are.
For a long time I worked with industrially produced skins, but their lack of quality and thickness made me decide to carry out the tanning process myself.
Since then I have tanned dozens of deerskins and buffalo hides and, despite mastering the technique, I continue to learn every day.
The techniques of beadwork and porcupine quillwork have long been hobbies of mine.
I would like to thank my wife and my children, as well as my friends Denis and Dominique… and everyone who has provided me with help and support.
